available on the net nowadays, and fast broadband connections make
access a whole lot easier. Here are some of those which I
have used in the past and still use, and also can recommend them.
GOOGLE DOCS &
SPREADSHEETS
Probably the best & most useful suite of all - stored online at
your
GOOGLEMAIL
address and loads of storage space to use. I have docs & sheets
stored here which I would use regularly.
I use
Google
Mail for all email contacts as it is accessible all over
the planet. I also pro-actively advocate and endorse
Google Calendar for
scheduling appointments etc.
OPEN OFFICEOpenOffice
is both a multi-platform and multi-lingual office suite
and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office
suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute.
Featuring a
fully compatible MS
Office suite of applications, Word
Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation App, Drawing, Database,
etc, the latest free version OOo3,
is a powerful, feature rich
application.
If you need Office 2007 compatibility this is the suite to use, as it handles DOCX formats also.
KOMPOZER -
the WYSIWYG web editor with which this website was developed.
I can use Dreamweaver, but want a simple and easy to use
package.
FILEZILLA - excellent cross-platform FTP application
THE GIMP
- an extremely powerful graphics creation & editing package
which rivals Photoshop etc.
PAINT.NET
- yet another extremely useful graphics modification application
ABIWORD
- a very good cross-platform word processer, simple to use
but also can produce comprehensive documentation with ease.
